Being a woman is expensive AF

I have given this a lot of thought. It’s hard being a woman. Not only are we oppressed by our male counterparts (chill guys, we know it's not ALL of you) but “being a woman” takes a lot of time and effort. AND MONEY.

We also have a lot of unrealistic expectations especially if your a mother and wife. But, specifically what I am talking about is maintenance. Hair, nails, physique, face, skin, feet, toes, teeth, nose, ears, vagina, booty, everything from head to toe and in between ! It seems like it’s imperative for a woman to maintain her looks, and nowadays it’s not just to snatch a man but to keep our self esteem in check! Just how much does it cost to be a woman? Lets find out. 

Hair- As a black woman, getting our hair done is very expensive. Braids/protective style $150 - $300 for good quality that will last. Blowout -$50 - $100, Wig/weave - $50 - $300 depending on the style and hair is not included! Braids can last up to 3-4 months with proper care. Wigs/weaves about 2-3 weeks if taken care of. Other styles you just have to play it by ear. Lets take out the black woman part. Getting your hair cut & colored costs about $100+! Extensions too. 

Nails - A basic mani - pedi will cost you a good $50. Acrylics, gel and other fancy upgrades are even more. And you have to get them done about every 2 weeks. 

Skin - a good quality skincare regime takes up a lot of time and money. Have you seen those GRWM (get ready with me) videos? Basically its watching a fast paced video of somebody putting on all their makeup and performing their daily skincare routine. Its quite satisfying if you ask me. Good quality products will cost you $30 - $80. If you have bad skin like I do (large pores, acne, oily) then you need to invest in additional skincare treatments like facials, chemical peels and such which start about $100+.

Wax - A full Brazilian bikini wax (because society hates women with pubes) is about $50 and that's just that area. Underarms, legs, lips, eyebrows are all extra!! Yes shaving is cheaper but when you have coarse gorilla hair, waxing makes it so much easier to deal with. 

Makeup - For a simple look maybe $10-$20, but for full glam... $100+. Make-up is a skillset for sure and takes a lot of time and practice to fully master. But the outcomes are gorgeous! 

Misc. - eyelash extensions ($150 - $200 every 2-3 weeks), eyebrow tint/microblading (for those of us with thin eyebrows and can't draw for shit) will cost $200 - $300. Lip fillers, Botox, etc..... now were getting into cosmetic surgery and treatments and we all know those range in the $500 - $5000 range. I feel like I'm forgetting something.... What else do you need to be considered a "bad bitch"? Hip tattoo? A little peek-a-boo groin tat? Neck tat? A full sleeve? Or two? Are tramp stamps still a thing? Catching my drift here? It all costs a lot of money! 

Not only does it hurt to be beautiful but it costs! So we have to look like a model, cook, clean AND work so your not a "gold digger"? Common guys, really? Cut us some slack here. Not to mention the cost of feminine hygiene products, I mean really? 

Ladies, repeat after me: I AM BEAUTIFUL. Keep telling yourself that and soon you will start to believe it. And also save up for that wax.
